The Grand Hotel of Solesmes borrows its name from common language. From the XVIIIth century, the hotel, with its fifteen bedrooms and the two « dormitories », was indeed the « biggest » in the village. becoming famous in 1833 after the renaissance of the old priory, built as a Benedictine abbey.
During the expulsion of 1880, the old Relais de Poste, modest house, welcomed in its residence the Benedictine monks. This coaching inn had stables and vehicle hangars, but also lodged a bakery, a butcher's shop, the village pub and later a petrol pump, coinciding with the automobile. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
